of the history and biodiversity of the Alabaster Coast.
On the agenda:
8 a.m.: Choice of hike along the cliffs or visit to a unique garden in Étretat
1:00 p.m.: Lunch of your choice
2:30 p.m.: Discover the Benedictine Palace
We offer two activities to start your day.
For sports enthusiasts, a 3.5-hour hike that takes you through breathtaking locations, between the ocean and dry valleys, between grandiose and intimate landscapes. "This superb route, also accessible from Étretat, runs partly through the Antifer valley nature reserve (ENS). Owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral, this environment is promoted by the Défi-Caux association, which offers horse-drawn carriage rides to discover this exceptional site."
For enthusiasts (and the curious!), a garden unique in France
"Les Jardins d'Étretat, located high up on the cliffs, is well worth a visit. "The Gardens are part of a topiary landscape where the scenery, contemporary art, and architecture come together in a poetic dialogue.
The project is the winner of the European Garden Award in the category
"Best enhancement of a historic garden," awarded two stars in the MICHELIN Green Guide, part of the "Great Gardens of the World" network, and holder of the "Remarkable Garden" label.
Being on the coast is a real opportunity to discover local seafood dishes. Fresh produce, the catch of the day, breathtaking views, or more home-style cooking—here is a small selection of the possibilities available to you near Étretat & Fécamp.
For all the restaurants mentioned, you will need to book in advance. Remember to call ahead and check opening hours, which may vary depending on the season.
For the afternoon, we suggest exploring Fécamp. This coastal town has a beautiful harbor and a large beach where you can take a stroll. However, we invite you to discover one of the most beautiful historical monuments on the coast, an iconic landmark of the town: the Palais Bénédictine. A majestic building with neo-Gothic and neo-Renaissance influences, the Palais Bénédictine is a true architectural work of art. Built at the end of the 19th century, it houses the distillery where the famous Bénédictine liqueur is produced, made from 27 plants and spices.
Discover the fascinating history of Bénédictine liqueur by exploring its newly renovated spaces and visiting the distillery.
For your return to the Château, allow 40 to 50 minutes by car.
Remember to make a reservation at L'Échiquier de Tilly so you can eat on site and avoid having to drive again. Our teams will be ready to welcome you.
